Kaos!: In Memoriam

In March of 2026, my mother died suddenly at the age of 62. The pain and shock caused an extreme artistic block for me for months, and left me thinking about love, legacy, and remembrance. Ruminating on these concepts eventually became the impetus to create art dedicated to her in order to permanently engrave her legacy into the world. The tendency for those we love to fade into the background of life, forgotten to future generations, has haunted me ever since her passing. As artists, we have the power to sustain the memory of those we love and extend their life to those who never knew them, even in death. This realization has driven me to memorialize her through my work. Kaos!: In Memoriam, titled after the nickname from her family, includes small and large scale sketches, drawings, and paintings of her portrait at the behest of my passion to never let her be forgotten.
